I have an 85 S-10 Blazer SUV with V8 350 engine from 77 Caprice. The radiator is for Corvette, heater used restricted nipple to reduce the flow into heater core. I have been trying to eliminate the overheat problem by not using A/C, however, during the hot days, temp. around 90 F, the car will overheat. I decided to remove the A/C system all together including condensor to improve the radiator efficiency, mounts one push fan in front the radiator...any other ways to eliminate the overheat problem? The distance between flex fan turns with engine, is about 1.5 inches, thus, cannot use pull fans.

Try ebay for conversion book. You can order a aluminum radiator made just for this project. If you dont think this is it take the fender wells out and put in a double electric fan in with an oil cooler. Oil seams to have a big impact on this truck Ive done 2 of them.

The corvette radiators that I have seen always were mounted at an angle and the fins were angled also so the air blew straight thru the radiator. You may need a radiator that came out of a vehicle where it stood upright so the air will flow thru it easier. Another thing your thermostat may not be opening all the way. I had to replace mine this summer, it apparently stuck almost closed and the truck started getting hot and the new one corrected it.

Well you could ditch the flex fan and replace with electric fans.It will cool better and increase horsepower a little bit.If you decide to cool a little better use watercool in the radiator, you can get watercool at O'rielly's and i believe at Napa.It is a street and track racers secret weapon against engine heat. Also if you decide to keep the flex fan you could make sure you have the proper fan shroud for the radiator it helps with pulling more cool air through. I hope some of this will help you with your overheating problem.Good luck.

Electric fans can not move the same amount of air as a clutch fan that came stock on the caprice.

Install the proper cowling, and radiator fan.
