small phone room of a small company with five guys. I am the only girl. We work in telemarketing for a brokerage company. On the phone all day. Anyways, everyday the guys end up in hour long discussions about things like Lindsay Lohan or the Iraq War or their diets. Basically, anything not work related. They do not make phone calls during these conversations. Generally, when they are doing this talking, I will sneak off on to the internet to check my email or the news for 20 minutes or so. Well, Friday, (and basically all last week) my boss exploded all over me saying that I was doing nothing at all. Not contributing because I spend all day on the internet. Absolutely not true! I spend less time on there then they do talking about non-work crap! I have been so frustrated by this all week long that I do not know what to do. I pull my weight around the office and I do not understand why I would be help to higher standard. Any advice? I do not want to go to work upset again

Since I am a guy let me begin by saying that I am not taking any gender based sides in my answer her. This is just my opinion.
I think you are dealing with two different situations. One, your co-workers not putting in enough time in their work. Two, you were doing non-work related things and unfortunately got caught. Unfortunately your actions were tangible which your boss was able to scrutinize. Whether the guy(s) get caught in their actions or not irrelevant to you. I think you should approach your boss and apologize to him, at the same time making your case about being a good employee. Do not mention anything about how your co-workers waste time chatting. Apologize for your actions and move on.
That's my opinion.

it is not a closed issue so you will be upset -ask the boss to have a meeting with all of yous speak your point.start getting other applications to another job -seek else were employment -right now just be quite tomorrow and remember he can check what is on the computer so try keep applications off the job files ---start going to the doctors every month but seek another job at that time
