Hi,

I live about 2 hrs from San Fran.. but we occaisonaly visit there when we have guests or visitors outside the state. It's been raining quite a while and it gets chilly here, so I would expect it to be much colder in San Francisco. Bring a warm jacket, warm clothes that you would wear there in Reno during Winter (Okay maybe not as much, yes I go to Reno about 5-6 times a year when we go to Lake Tahoe!, Love it there!) But maybe a T or thinner would be nice.

Here's a full month forecast for San Francisco for October.. I'm not sure how accurate it is now, but check it the sooner you go, it must be the most by then: http://www.weather.com/weather/monthly/USCA0987?month=1

The roads in San Francisco aren't that spacy.. Its kinda scarey but you get used to them after a while, if your driving, be careful if you've never driven on them.. They can be quite a pain but that's okay.. the view is just great.

If you have some extra time.. hey go to Pier 39, walk on the Bridge, ride a trolley and ride down Lombard Street, and top it all with a nice visit to Ghiradelli's chocolate factory :-)

Hope you have a GREAT time in San Francisco!
:) Haha Happy Halloween too..lol goodnight

You can watch the San Francisco Bay Area News on channel 11/FOX affiliate. They show the entire news broadcast at 10:00pm every night. You might want to watch a week or so, before your trip.
From my personal experience... it will be cold foggy and it might be raining(I happen to love that weather); bring warm clothes, comfy shoes, and an umbrella. The traffic will be like in any other big city....congested and slow during rush hour. They have a ton of freeways, it's not like here in Reno, where everything is off of 80 or 395. Take your maps, directions to all the places you will be visiting, and also a list of local/SF emergency #'s.
Have fun, be safe, and bring me back some sourdough bread from Boudine's!

lately it's been pretty sunny here. but last night it rained fairly hard. i'd expect cold foggy tempuratures 50-60 in the morning but it should warm up in the afternoon to be about 70-76. If you come in the morning, the bridge might be a bit clogged up, but they move the lanes so that people coming into SF have four lanes instead of 3, there usually isn't very much traffic from 8:30AM to 2:00PM.

i hope you enjoy san francisco. it is a very great city to visit!

I recommend visiting weather.com/vacation. The vacation planner has historical weather, averages, local guides with maps and even has a "What to Pack" tool. Weather.com is the most reliable weather source and was really helpful for me when I went to Europe last November. Good luck!

Donner Pass might be OK in October. But always pack the chains just in case. DP just got 6" of snow last week. The roads might be a little wet since we (Bay area) are already starting the rainy season.

It's been overcast (fog) in the morning and nice and cool, and then the fog burns off and it goes up to about 80F. And pack an umbrella too, just in case.

It shouldn't be too bad, but I would suggest looking up the extended forecast a week or so before you leave.
