1st accident) - a young driver ran a flashing red light...she didn't think she had to stop
2nd accident) - (my fault)...i was reaching under my passenger seat while driving to get my tape case (before c.d.'s) and went off the road and hit a fire hydrant
3rd accident) - (my fault)...i had a car full of friends...they said, " how fast can this car go ? ", i had the car up to 65 mph on a posted 35 mph street...a car was making a turn into his driveway, but didn't have any break lights and didn't have his turn signal on...i realized too late that the car was stopped and i rear-ended him
4th accident) - i was coming over a bridge...a bus was broken down at the beginning of the bridge on the opposite side of the bridge and a car came around it and hit me head on
THE MORAL - be smart, drive defensively, don't assume that the other driver is paying attention, NEVER take off immediately after the light changes...be sure to look both ways...if you do these you should be alright

I've been in a car accident once. I was about five or six so I don't remember a lot, but at an intersection a car sped through a stop sign and crashed into the truck I was riding in. No one got hurt, though.
So although I myself am not old enough to drive, my advice to you would to be cautious and realize that not all drivers on the road are going to follow traffic laws, and you need to be careful no matter what.

My mom and I were in an accident on March 15th of 2005. It was her fault. I'm not really sure how it happened, because I was pissed off and picking at my nails, so I wasn't watching the road. But either way, she T-Boned another car. Both cars were totalled. We were in physical therapy for a year afterwards. It was pretty bad.
I'm sure you'll do fine. Just be careful and remain calm. Good luck getting your license!

I have been in two accidents. The first time I was a pedestrian and the driver of the car that hit me was speeding and couldn't stop in time. The second time I was a passenger in a car, and the driver had to brake suddenly. The person behind us was following too closely and hit us.

I've been in 2:
1))) My friend was driving on the highyway and skidded on some "black ice"... The car flipped about 5 times. We got some minor scratches, but no one was really seriously hurt.
2))) A drunk driver plowed into the back of my car & totalled it while I was waiting to turn. I had some back & neck pain for about 2 weeks, but I'm OK now!!!
Don't be scared hun!!! There are things you can do as a driver that will help to avoid most accidents. Some accidents, like the ones I mentioned above, there was just nothing I could have done to stop them... You take the same risks just walking across the street everyday.
You already are a bit scared of driving, so maybe that is good because it really means that you know what a big responsibility driving can be and you will really take it seriously!!!
There are several precautions you can take as a driver.
First, ALWAYS wear your seatbelt. Even if you are just moving your car a short distance. Some idiots will try to tell you different & that the seatbelt can hurt you, but they are wrong!!! Seatbelts have saved sooo many lives!!! Take it from someone who has actually been in a vehicle flipping through the air... I don't think I would be here today if I hadn't been wearing it.
Second, Always be a defensive driver... You have no way of knowing if & when you will ever be in an accident, so the best way to avoid one is to always drive as if you know that all the drivers around you are intentionally trying to cause an accident. Even though you may get to the point where you may think you are a safe driver, there are always other people & situations out there that can screw you up! Always be aware of what other drivers around you are doing... Just don't pay attention to the car in front of you, you must pay attention to all the cars visible in front of you. It's easier to avoid an accident when you see the car 5 cars ahead of you start to skid, instead of trying to react to the car immediately in front of you. Always scan the road ahead of you for kids, animals, potholes, and other things that may cause you to stop suddenly. After you stop at a stop sign or after your light turns green, still look both ways before pulling out into the intersection, you will encounter other drivers who just fly thru intersections because they aren't paying attention. Just don't exist in your own personal little bubble of road space, you must be aware of your surroundings.
Third, Always make sure you have your vehicle maintained properly. Make sure all the tires are inflated correctly, the vehicle has enough fluids (brake, oil, transmission, etc), the windshield is always clean enough to not cause glare, the brakes aren't "mushy", and you have more than enough gas to get you to where you want to go. Yes, even running out of gas can get you in an accident if you stop in the middle of the road or a road where there is not adequate room to pull over to the side. If there is a problem with the car, have it fixed as soon as you can, don't wait until it gets bad enough to get you in an accident.
Fourth, Obey the traffic laws, signals & signs... They are there for a reason, even though they may sometimes seem inconvenient.
Fifth, Always carry a cell phone with you when you are driving. Make sure it's charged before you go anywhere. If your car battery dies, in the middle of nowhere, in the dark, in 30 degree weather... your dead cell phone is not going to help you. ...And cars do always seem to break down at the most inconvenient times!!!
Sixth, Don't let people & things inside/outside the car distract you from paying attention to your surroundings. Many accidents occur because the driver was simply distracted for a few seconds. Don't talk on a cell phone while driving, don't stare at accidents as you drive by them, don't look through a purse or bag while the car is moving, don't get so enthralled in a conversation with friends that you forget you are operating a piece of fast & heavy machinery.
Seventh.... The piece of advice that my dad gave me that helped me sooo much ***Don't do anything stupid!*** Not saying that you are stupid, I know you are not. But, if that little voice in your brain tells you that something you are about to attempt while you are driving is "stupid", then it probably is and don't do it!
I remember when I first started driving, I was soooo nervous... but the nervousness eventually wears off after a few months. Please don't worry. You will make mistakes, we all do, but that is how we learn!!! And trust me, usually when you make a mistake driving... you are usually sooo relieved no one was hurt that you usually never make that mistake again!!!
WOW, I think that's the longest answer I ever left. Sorry for taking up so much space, but I wanted you to know everything that my mom & dad told me that made me feel safer.
Good luck hun & try to enjoy yourself.

Car accident when I was 24. Car hit me from behind and pushed me into a telephone pole. Broke 4 ribs, hip, foot and my head hit the windshield. It was a little scary driving past the accident scene for a while, but it does get better.

I was in the passengers seat,my father was driving 55 mph and a school bus ran a stop sign and so we hit it. It was the bus fault for not stopping especially cuz there were other kids in the car. No one in the bus was hurt thankfully but my dad had a neck injury and I can won't ever get on a school bus again.{Thankfully I am home schooled so I don't have to}

Oh don't worry miss blue, you'll be just fine. hehe...
I have had a few. The worst was almost 11 years ago. I was pregnant with my daughter, driving home from work in the winter, it was real icy. I couldn't stop, was the 3rd car of 4. It wasn't bad until the one that hit me came along. All I had was a crack in my bumber, that last girl was coming so fast, and I saw her coming in my rear view mirror, I can still see it in my head. She pushed the front of my car under the one in front of me and completely pushed my trunk in. I flew forward and hit the steering wheel, had a tear in the baby's placenta from my stomach hitting the steering wheel. I was about 5 months pregnant. Several weeks of rest and we both turned out just fine tho, all is good!

I've been in two major accidents...one where it was raining badly and my jeep started hydro-planing ...in fact off the road and flipped in mid air. I crawled out un-hurt. Then again when a truck didn't see me in my little BMW Z3 and jumped in my lane, to avoid hitting him I went into the emergency lane and began fish tailing upon hitting the brakes...then spun out across three lanes of the opposite side of the highway. Then finally stopped after crashing into a light pole before going into a ditch full of water. (Thank GOD that light pole stopped me) and again was not hurt besides sleeping in a coma for a month. That's it!
