Taking off work to get your car fixed is a personal day not a sick day. If your wanting to get paid for that you would have to tell your boss that you are sick and not mention the car.

Sick days are for when you are SICK. Your car does not count. Is it possible to use a vacation day?

Most auto shops near me will allow you to bring the car in as early as 6:30am, give you a ride to work, and pick you up after work. That should allow you to fix your car AND go to work.

To address your question directly, unless your contract says otherwise, they can probably dock your pay for days you don't work.

Drop your car off and have a friend take you to work, or rent a vehicle for the day. You shouldn't need to take off work to have your car repaired. Most companies consider it poor work ethics.

Did you tell them you were sick....if not then they can take it out of your check. Be prepared, they are justified in asking for a doctors note if you call in sick.
