It is a fact that it takes the melanin in the skin a bit of time to develop in the case of newborns, particularly those of colour. It is not at all unusual.

It was because you were not getting any sun rays outside like getting a tan but when you are a baby you absorb more instead like when your older and you get a tan and turn light again you stay really close to that color.

As you grow older your skin tones change. There is also the effect that your environment plays every day. If you want an example, look at an older man or woman who dye their hair. The skin tones don't match the dye job, but would match their natural coloring.

That happened to me too. I think it's just because when we're first born we haven't been exposed to enough sun, or we need some time to produce more melanin.

Have you not been in the sunlight as much lately? It could also have to do with something internally, you may be lacking something.... Caramel is a nice skin color.. I'd be happy if I were you! =)

when you were a baby you were light because you hadn't been exposed to the sun much. But as they started taking you out more, your skin darkened.

when you were inside your mother, you had no access to the sun. that`s why you looked pale. when you came out of your mother you melanin glans start to work on your color. that is what makes your color.
