I was having trouble printing a document and when I went into the printers and faxes menu, there was a list of printers installed on my laptop. One of the printer icons has a printer with a hand holding it while the other icons are just printers. What does this mean?

It means it is shared, other machines can print on it.

Anything with a hand on it means it is shared. To unshare it, right click it and choose properties and then the sharing tab. Uncheck "share this printer." Somehow, it got shared. If it is on a network, don't do that. Anything that has a hand on it is shared, hard drives, printers, folders, etc. Hope this helped.
