Just vote and write your congresspersons.
Nevada has prostitutes who are checked frequently for STD's, and from what I've heard not one of them has tested HIV+.
Now compare that to the hookers in other states.
Legalized prostitution does work. It's cleaner, provides a legal outlet for sexual frustrations, and probably keeps the rest of the population not engaged in such activities, safer (i.e., less STD's, less sex offenses, I'd guess).

The valid reasons that prostitution is criminal is the criminal activity associated with the activity. Things like kidnapping to support sex slavery and that violent crime and desease risks proximate to the activity endanger the public.
The only valid way to decriminalize the process is to replace the human providing the service with a robot. Then disease risks can be greatly eliminated, and violent crime restricted to property not persons.

i would say be patient.
currently the last frontier of tax revenue (gambling) is moving all across the nation.
in a few years that source of revenue will be tapped and greedy politicians will be looking again at new revenues.
legalizing victimless crimes will be the next natural step.
legalizing things like marajuana and prostitution are inevitable - particularly since it appears that our prisons will be filled with political prisoners.

Hopefully none.....
It's a disgrace and an easy way to spread diseases such as AIDS, herpes, etc....
Why would anyone want to change that law?
