There are so many regions of the USA that it's hard to nail any down, but in broadest geographical terms there are:

+ New England (ME, MA, NH, VT, CT, RI)
+ Middle Atlantic (NY, NJ, PA, DE, MD, DC, sometimes VA)
+ Southeast (TN, VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, MS, sometimes LA, sometimes KY, sometimes WV, sometimes AR, sometimes OK)
-- Gulf States overlay (FL panhandle, AL, MS, LA)
+ Southwest (TX, AZ, NM, sometimes AR, sometimes OK)
+ Midwest (OH, IN, IL, WI, MI, MO, WV, MI, sometimes KY, sometimes IA, sometimes NE)
+ Plains (ND, SD, NE, KS, sometimes IA)
+ Rockies (MT, ID, WY, CO, UT, maybe NV)
+ Nevada isn't solidly in any region that I know of
+ West Coast/Pacific (WA, OR, CA)
+ Alaska
+ Hawaii

Be more specific. Time regions? Cultural regions? Physical regions? Climate regions?
