our miniscule existence in the scheme of things? Are there other creatures out there thinking the same thing?

PLEASE NO RELIGIOUS ANSWERS.

Absolutely. It seems just so odd that we would be here, in the middle of no where, just living our lives. I would like to think that light years away a distant culture is also striving to contact us. How could we "earthlings" be the only living conscious organisms out there?

Good question :-)

I used to from time to time till I got the answer. There is far more to come than there has been in the past because this is an expanding universe and all creations are the expanders. That makes your suppositions that we are miniscule in the scheme of things erroneous. We are highly important to the scheme of things because as humans we have the ability to desire more variety. That is actually our purpose and we are doing very well indeed. The other creatures also are very important because they help maintain the planet in ways that we cannot. Their focus is different. All is very well indeed.
Enjoy!

You think too much. You are what you are. To quote the philosopher and strongman Popeye "I yam what I yam". Enjoy your life here and now and let larger existence take care of itself. Sounds as if you have conflicts regarding things outside of your control or understanding. If it is outside of your arms reach it is not important.

The three big questions are: Where did we come from? Why are we here? Where are we going?
