Hi, im a soccer player that is decent and getting better by the day. I have recently started playing with some of the men from the neighborhood during their practice, for their team Chapos. In order to keep up with their skills, I need to find a way to have shots go low (preferably no higher than 5 feet) but while still maintaining the high velocity that I can put into shots that go alot higher. How should I go about doing this? I currently hit it pretty hard with hooking left and then right before hitting the ball with the right foot, so if there is somthing wrong about hitting it that way, please let me know.

try hitting the ball with the laces part of you boot or around there
just like flat foot
you can even arch your foot a little more horizontal if you not comfortable with flat vertical foot
as long as you hit it with the laces part

most soccer players try to make clean contact with the ball using the part of the boot with the laces and/or just below that. different players have different technique for striking a ball but i think a common one is to have the toes pointed downwards and the foot almost pointing diagonally away from the body. its difficult to explain but if you watch clips on websites like Youtube you might get it. another technique is to have the foot pointing almost directly down from the body, its very hard to master but theres a brazilian free-kick maestro called Roberto Carlos who does this excellantly, while creating a thunderbolt shot. study some clips of him. good luck

When hitting with your right foot:

Plant you left foot even with the ball.
Right knee over the ball.
Lock your right ankle with your toes pointed at the ground.
Strike the ball with your laces.

To keep the ball low make sure your knee is over the ball. Generally speaking if you lean forward as you kick the ball will stay low, if you lean back the ball will rise.

Good luck and Joga Bonita.

Hitting on the laces is important, but the biggest thing is keeping your knee over the ball. This keeps you foot behind the ball instead of under it. good luck.
