check your owner's manual to be sure (the timing belt is very important (you do not want it to break!)

I believe the interval for a timing belt change on a 02 Forester is 105,000 miles.

if your heavy footed every 60k if your easy on the gas than 100k should be fine. just have your belt inspected by a subaru tech. timing belt on the boxer engine is a pita to change.
