I live in a college apartement and we have to share the internet since it the cable internet and phone come in one package. The internet for the past (3-4)couple of days has been very slow. I can download uploads pages or files. I'll be surpised if this page request goes through. When I go to the network center it says my broadband detection is good, when it is not all . I have rediculous times like a .txt file should only take 1 min or less to downlaod and it says three hours.

Complain to the people that run the Internet in your apartment. It might be a bad wire, router, or something of that sort. It also could just be your Internet Service Provider screwing up.

run a bandwidth speed test. try the link below:

most likely someone in your building is doing some serious downloading and his hogging up all of the bandwidth. you will need to talk to the property manager, etc.
