It seems that the process of turning us all into toddlers is almost complete. General Sir Richard Dannet confides his opinion that the insurgents in Iraq are not all bad people. When I was a squaddie we scoffed at the notions of goodies and baddies as much as our being ecouraged to think of our enemies "ravishing your mother" etc. We didnt see the Russians as bad or even the IRA, as women and kids get shot and blown up in all Wars, its the nature of the beast. We were intelligent enough (mostly) to realise that the enemy simply had a different agenda and set about killing them anyway we could whether they were good, bad or indifferent we didnt really give a tinkers cuss!..its just what we did, if others need to justify what is afterall unjustifiable..thats their lookout..what do you think?

I accept your exception Vietman..there are occasionally some lunatics who have a completely lunatic agenda either individually or organisationally. But Iam more worried about about leaders demonising and dehumanising all our opponents, as if our New World Order is always unquestionably in the right..afterall, most Wars are fought with money as the bottom line whatever "cause" they are trying to sell us on at the time.

The Brit army did illegally occupy my country. Fact. So, sorry, but I see that as 'bad'. And so, since it was bad, we did all we could to rid ourselves of them. Now, individually, no doubt some of these soldiers were nice lads, but their function in the six was what was looked at. Simple and yet not simple, but is the way it is. Ask questions later when you have the luxury of time. But then, you know this, eh?

A good question and ,I think, bacisly right. There used to be a saying in WW2 that a good German was a dead German. I have no problem with the people of any countries. Its their leaders who are the problem. Without Hitler there would not have been a war. Without Stalin there would not have been a cold war.Without Sadam there would probably not have been a problem there. What would the world be like without Bin Laden.Probably again a safer place to live in. Blame the morons who run these countries not the people.

Don't think so.
It's the dead Mummy that is following them around with the ghostly stories from the graveyards of failures and horrors of the past were making a mess out there.

propaganda has been used since humans could talk, but some enemies are as bad as you hear like al qaeda and the former ussr, some are not as bad as put, like in world war II some german soldiers were told that the american and british were convicts let loose on the battlefields, when really they were just like them. not all enemies are bad as said, but our enemies are.

I think without the UK and American armed forces of the 20th Century I would not be granted the freedom to think at all.

(and neither would the Swedes. Verstehen Sie mich?)

unless the actual enemies are women raping, body part mutilating, starvation spreading, ignorance preaching fools(cough cough African tribal warlords), then no, many of our enemies are remarkably similar to us except without the money.

I think you must be american...since you didnt even bother to mention it, you just assumed we all knew who you were and you refer to "our" enemies when not everybody on the planet root for the USA. I'm swedish. we dont have enemies since we're neutral. so nobody's "baddies". only america. but that's a personal preference of mine.
