I agree with Theatre Doc, get an agent. If you want to peruse casting calls look at BackstageWest. com and get a subscription. Do you have headshots and a resume, if not start working on those because you will need them for everything. Lastly, start committing a couple of monologues to memory one comedy one drama, you may need them. Above all ALWAYS BE READY!!!

Open casting calls are almost invariably a waste. They are usually for extra work, unpaid jobs or agency scams. Professional productions don't work that way. Most of the stories you hear about unknowns being cast in major productions through an open casting are made up for PR. If you want to go for fun go ahead. But have realistic expectations.

ask your answerers if they have ever got a job via open castings? Unless you have an agent, you are not going to get anything but an extra job from open casting. There is no magic, easy way to become an actor, it takes years of hard work.
