http://www.parents.com/babynames/searchResults.jsp?_DARGS=/parents/templates/home/tools/babyNameFinderFrag.jsp is a great website to search for names within a certain heritage or with a certain meaning.
Is there a flower or a town or something that could be a name that has some meaning for you?
Here's another site that might help:

Do you want to name your daughter Southern? That's crazy!
Name her Savannah, for Savannah, Georgia.

you could always think about something that is important to you like love, friendship, honesty, etc and see what that would translate into.
or, if you like flowers, find a flower's translated name. that would be pretty...and unique
as for "americanized" names, i like lily, and delilah
