a) that is when t = 0, s(0) = 256

b) if you are a calc student, you could find that by finding the turning point using derivative, or use graphing
any case, it reach max height when t = 3

s(3) = 400

c) hit the ground when s(t) = 0
solve -16t^2 + 96t + 256 = 0
(t-8)(t+2) = 0 t= 8 (time cannot be neg)
