Lots of things...
They should do and be the following, of course this is my ideas, and may or may not be shared with the views of others...
They should
Be there for you, just as you for them...
For the good and hard, times...
Never be jealous... And want what is best for you...
Be a good listener, and know when you might need a little extra TLC...
Love you for who you are differences and all...
But be bold enough to tell it to you straight when you have made a decision not too wise...
This applies to both who enter the friendship...â¥
Be honest and true to you, as they would want in return.... â¥

Someone who will never give you up unless the reason depends on life or death. Someone who is always there for you in your ups and downs. Someone that even when he/she disagrees with you tries to understand you. Someone who you trust with your life and tell your secrets to. Someone who is not going to lie to you. Someone that you love enough to call your true friend. You can't never have enough reasons.

well a good friend is someone who, as everyone else says, is always there for you, no matter what. though the hard times, they give you a shoulder to cry on. a good friend os somone who is honest with you at all times. they are also loyal to you.

Their a good friend if they never leave your side for anything, and are always there for you no matter what the cost! I wish my best friend did that for me again!

someone thta cares what u think and say and let's u talk and someone that would ACTUALLY give u the shirt off their back and doesn't talk behind ur back about u, they r few an d far in between

Someone that REALLY cares about you, and shows it, and you do the same in return.
I have yet to find such a person, after a lifetime of searchin...
