1. It's not 'bad' to have only one, it's just that they're very social critters and enjoy having the company of another ferret. If you have only one ferret, you'll need to give it lots of attention. If you have two or more, they can keep each other entertained, so they don't require quite as much one-on-one with you. No matter how many you have, you should still play and interact with them, but when I have mine out playing (I have five), I can do other things that I need to get done, where if I had only one I'd have to be down giving it constant attention. It's also nice to have at least two, that way when you're not home or sleeping, they have someone to keep them company and cuddle up with. Not to mention it's so much fun watching two of them play together!
2. I have cats and they've never tried eating my ferrets, they usually just swat at the ferrets a little bit and then run away. I guess it all depends on the cat. You'll just have to keep an eye on the cat when the ferret is around it. I don't recommend ever leaving the two alone when you're gone or sleeping. Even if they seem to be getting along, you never know when one or both might change their mood and decide to go after the other.
3. Hmm...black footed ferrets are the kind you find in the wild, not a type that's kept as a pet. Perhaps you're referring to the sables? Anyway, I don't really have a preference in the color - they're all adorable! I've heard that a lot of people don't like the red-eyed whites, they think they're 'possessed' by the devil. LOL. At least, that's what the girl that I adopted my black-eyed white from thought.

1. It is better to have two ferrets because they are social. If you play with your ferret enough, it is ok to keep just one.
2. Cats usually do not try to eat ferrets; the two usually get along fine. If you have a particularly aggressive cat, it MAY act similarly to the ferret.
3. Black-footed ferrets are endangered and are not pets. Pet ferrets come in many coat colors though.

Mulereiner, would you mind contacting the Smithsonian National Zoo and let them know that the black footed ferret is extinct. Apparently they haven't been doing very well with their species recovery efforts. Also can you please tell me what I've been watching for the last few weeks on this cam if they aren't black footed ferrets. http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/NorthAmerica/
Ferrets generally do better in pairs or groups. I wouldn't leave a ferret alone with a cat. Both albino and black footed ferrets are cool. However the black footed ferret is a wild species and you can't buy them. The ferrets with black feet that I believe you may referring to are sables.

1- we just have one ferret and it plays with the cats and dogs. She doesn't seem to be lonely at all.
2- Yes they will. All of mine are petrified of the ferret and run away, but I wouldn't put it past a cat raised outside to want to kill a ferret.
3-albino ferrets have problems with deafness.
black footed ferrets are extinct.

1- We have 3, and they love having each other
2- NEVER trust your kitty alone with the ferret, and do not introduce while your ferret is a kit.. and even then it should be through the cage
3- I think you mean sable.. I've got both. Make sure they've been descented and desexed. Female ferrets that aren't fixed will bleed to death!

nicely having a play mate on your ferret is super yet meaning greater foodstuff greater toys greater everthing and doubtless a sparkling cage based how vast your cage is. And as for dooking some ferrets dook incredibly much consistently while leaping around twiddling with you or his ferret acquaintances and a few ferrets dook very softly or under no circumstances.

could i just say before you get a ferret check to see if they are legal to keep in you state ( it is illegal in queensland to keep ferrets.) if you already have a ferret in a state where they are illegal to keep contact your local ferret welfare society. they will rehome it in a place where it is legal to keep them
