WHY do you still think he's a good president? Look at all the harm he's done compared to good...can you give me one really great reason to even slightly respect him as a president?

O'nesimus, Bush did not provide me the freedom to bash him. I'm pretty sure that right was given to me when the Bill of Rights was written. And correct me if I'm wrong, but Bush has actually taken many of my freedoms away (are you familiar with something called the "Patriot Act?") I'm all for protecting our country, but you don't need to spy on people in order to do it.

koalatcomics, I would like to point out that I asked for reasons you believe Bush is a good president...where in there did I ask you to give me a spiel about why you didn't approve of the Clinton presidency that ended, oh, six years ago? That doesn't tell me anything about Bush, does it (because I guarantee I could come up with a longer list of "bad" things Bush has done)?

My take on the reason why there is still a handfull of people that still support Bush is because he claims to be a Christian. When everything he has done has been not the slightest bit Christian-like. They also like him can't admit they were wrong.
I don't give a rats behind if he is our president, that doesn't mean I have to respect him, and whoever said ask a victim of 9-11 why he's still a good president, those are the people that have the most right to be mad as hell at him, he is the worst president we have ever had, anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot.

First let me say that I admit some of the things Bush has done haven't held true to principles of "limited government" but we're not in a normal state of affairs. His presidency has mostly been spent guiding a war and protecting America during the worst time its ever faced.
That ... and coming through on all his promises to the common man while he's at it ... I don't consider that "harm." He has enacted some good laws ("Connor's Law" for one, which makes it a double murder to kill a pregnant woman.)
The people who say they can't even respect him as a human being should be ashamed of themselves. Not only is the guy capable of making fun of himself (which John "Waffles" Kerry sure wouldn't do), he has a heart and compassion to go with it. After the VA Tech shootings, he was right there speaking to the campus and telling them things would be all right.
Of course that doesn't matter when you're babbling on incoherently about Halliburton and "neocon conspiracies", does it?
Oh, and he did depose two murderous animals that didn't/don't deserve to live by any standard. That wins points in my book.
I think after a couple of more Presidents and after the MoveOn shills/assorted San Francisco nutjobs crawl back to where they came from, history will finally admit Bush was right to knock Saddam out - and that things like warrantless wiretaps were needed at the time and for the common good.
I know I'll get some thumbs down, abusive emails, or even a report for this but I don't care. Let the flame fest commence.

He lowered taxes and therefore improved the economy and not only pulled us out of a recession, but has achieved the lowest unemployment rates in decades... and that's with 20 million Illegals taking up jobs... He confronted terrorism directly which needs to be done. One can argue (in hindsight) about some of his decisions on fighting the battle in Iraq... but wars in general are messy things. I would disagree with his spending and increases in entitlement programs, and on his policies on immigration. So, like many presidents, he has his good points and those that may not be so good... however, other than possible problems due to his immigration and North American Union policies, I can see no harm that he has done.

I like your question but my comment is to fin73. Go ask a 9/11 victim. For one Osama Bin Laden was responsible for 9/11. What has bush done about? Nothing. If our president was a man he would unleash the military on Osama Bin Laden and Afghanistan. Not get into a civil war with 3 spoiled rotten factions that can't decide who's going to be in charge. As a victim I want revenge and I ain't going to get none in Iraq.

Brains that actually function independently and analytically are not a prerequisite for anyone wishing to be a Bush supporter.
To be a Bush supporter all you have to do is glue a smile on, be excited because everybody else is excited and have the brains of a parrot - to memorize and repeat whatever your are told to say.
Isn't Britney Spears a supporter of Bush?
Enough said then!

If nothing else, at least he has given a good reason for more people to become politically involved. At least President Bush is doing in his heart what he truly believes is in our country's best interest, unswayed by public opinion. It's not a popularity contest, it's the administrative lead position of the world's (currently) only superpower.
Didn't he require congress' approval to make that list of bad choices you mention?.
Although others may have done the job differently, I highly doubt another would have so fervently worked for our security. No successful terrorist attacks on American soil since 9-11.
One really good thing he has done: G.W.B. has given the next president an excuse for their failures.
