I'd say if you were on the phone with an abortion clinic you've already been screwed.

Planned Parenthood is a sexual and reproductive health care advocate and provider, abortion services are a small part of what they do.

"If any person shall, in the presence or hearing of another, curse or abuse such other person, or use any violent, abusive language to such person concerning himself or any of his relations, or otherwise use such language, under circumstances reasonably calculated to provoke a breach of the peace, he shall be guilty of a class 3 misdemeanor."
(Code of Virginia, Section 18.2-416).

I would imagine that calling a reproductive health services office and saying "I can't believe my wife is f'n pregnant again" amounts to "calculated to provoke".

I mean, you could have used protection.

That is brutal!! I don't know what the punishment is for such a frivolous charge but that would make the difference in deciding whether or go with a court appointed or private atty.. I'm in CA...where the fword is practically allowed on billboards BUT it is a felony to cuss in front of a corpse...lol.

you call a business and get obnoxious on the phone and feel that it is your right. wrong, you treat people with respect and do not cuss on a public beach where their are other people around and you do not spit on the side walk where people are walking around in their bare feet. act like you are part of society, not in your own world and maybe you would not be in trouble with society. pay your fines and hope you don't get 90 days, or then again, you may really learn to be polite in society.

..."COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA! if you cuss at the beach at virginia beach you get arrested! if you spit on the side walk at the beach you get arrested . then you get a fine! "...

you can't remember what you typed, how are you going to beleive that you would tell us the whole story and that we would all tell you that you are right. you can't yell at me and make me agree with you. i am not your wife, and if there is any justice in the world, you have no kids.

Quite frankly, there's nothing wrong with using a court appointed attorney. However, you really aren't telling the truth here. You've left out quite a bit...

Arrested for saying the F word on the phone? Excuse me? What law is this and where is it so I know to avoid that Nazi territory.

I think you will find that your court appointed attorney has more trial experience than your average private attorney. They simply end up going to trial more often as their clients normally don't have anything to lose.
