No -- most don't see the parallel.

Because as Americans, we're entitled to do whatever we want -- and the same standards don't apply to anyone else...

At least, that's what I keep hearing people say.

No, because we don't hold huge rallies and burn their flags in public like a bunch of morons, like the English have done a few times in London when Bush has visited.

Go to any country where their government is screwing over the people royally. No cries from the public. The only thing that ever gets people out into the street, and really protest, is when the big bad U.S. President comes, because as we all know, that's the reason for everything that's gone wrong in that country. Have a kerosene soaked Stars and Stripes, and light that baby. Once burned, your troubles will be gone, and then the world will know, that with your own government being as incompetent as ever, how mad you are at someone else.

My take on it is that most Americans whom are opposing his talks at U of C, is based on (1) Iran's supplying and being a meddler in Iraq and aiding in the killing of our troops, and (2) Iran's constant remarks of aggression towards the US and their own plans for the Middle East (which many in the Arab league has said, "is to cause an all-out-regional war), and (3) Iran's setting it's missiles towards our troops in Iraq.

Isn't it also ironic that 3 days before his visit he threatens the US with a parade of military might of Iran (which was laughable and a joke to most - he had showed the world his fear and psychotic insecurity). Which makes sense in why people may feel that way. I am always open to talks and feel that it can be a healthy dialog, as long as you are not hypocritical when saying you want to enlighten the American people and do something irrational.

What if the US did the same how will those in favor react to our showing off of our military might rolling down the streets in Washington and in the air, and I may say that it will show Iran and the world that we are well equipped and can send a message that we will deal with anything brought forth to us. But, I am glad we are not that way, it seems rather disrespectful to do that to any visitor to our country who is a world leader and totally not necessary.

This is the same guy who was among the captors of the US Embassy Hostage situation back in 1980, The Embassy employees were held captive for 444 days because peacenik Jimmy "the Grin" Carter was too timid to send in the marines. The hostages were set free the day of Reagan's inauguration.

This was the same guy who wants to exterminate the Jews and claims there was no Dachau, no gas chambers, no Holocaust. He also includes among his many rants "Death To Americans".

Does anyone really believe that Iran needs nuclear power plants for peaceful energy purposes when Iran is sitting on one of the greatest oil sources in the world?

It has been shown that the roadside bombs that are making our armored cars and Humvees vulnerable are being manufactured in Iran. Iran is currently responsible for the U.S. military deaths and we have idiots in this country like Columbia University that want to give this killer food and lodging and to show we don't hold any grudges against him.

You should distinguish between 'Americans' and 'Americans'.
Most liberal Americans relish the thought of putting tough questions to the Iranian leader. And they uphold the idea of freedom of speech.
Most Conservatives are so swept up in the FOX News frenzy that they can't think for themselves. 'We don't want to hear you, so nobody else should hear you either'. You have 'freedom of speech' only if you agree with what we think.
