Democracy is a political model where the people -- citizens -- hold ultimate decision making power.

Democracy may be direct (polyarchal) or it may be indirect, such as a representative republic.

But at its core -- democracy is might makes right, usually by majority (mob) rule.

Power to 51% of the people. Mob rule. We are actually a Republic. We elect representatives to make decisions for us.
In a true democracy, if 51% of the people want slavery again, then so be it. Not cool.
