He ate them up. A whole 2.5 ouce can. He never spit them out. I tried the cereal and he never liked it. So I changed. I am asking about once a day, and about water.

Until a baby is about 6 months old, he/she does not nutritionally need any thing other than breast milk and/or formula. Anything else is strictly for supplementation and practice. Rice cereal is generally recommended as a baby's first introduction to solids for numerous reasons. First, it is iron fortified which is beneficial since babies are born with a supply of iron which only lasts until about the time he/she has doubled his/her birth weight. Additionally, infant rice cereal is easily mixed to a desired consistency which is especially helpful for beginning eaters who need their food pretty thin at first. Also, infant rice cereal has little risk of developing food sensitivity and is easily digestible. There is nothing set in stone that infant rice cereal has to be the first food of introduction and green beans, while not a typical first food, are fine as long as your son seems to tolerate them fine. Watch for tummy upset, rash, fussiness. If these develop, wait a couple weeks and try again or try a different single ingredient food. Until closer to 6 months, some babies just don't have the developed digestive system to handle much in the way of solids. I highly suggest you eliminate the water in a bottle for now. It isn't necessary and there is a risk of water intoxication. Both breast milk and formula consist of plenty of water and no additional water is recommended until a baby is eating a variety of foods. Because a baby's tummy is so tiny and the breast milk and/or formula give him the important nutrients he needs, anytime you add anything else to his diet, there is a risk that he will not consume adequate amounts of breast milk and/or formula for proper growth and development. There is no need to rush adding solids to your baby's diet. Sometime between 6-9 months most babies are eating some type of solid food each day. Sometime between 9-12 months most babies will develop a preferred daily schedule that will likely consist of 3 meals and 2-3 snacks.

Have you already introduced the three different types of cereal? Because those are suppose to be the first food you feed your baby at around 6 months. You introduce one type of cereal per week and look for an allergic reaction.

However, a good way to get the green beans to taste better for baby is to add a little of the rice cereal and a bit of water to dilute the strong taste of the veggie. With the veggies and fruit you can introduce a new one every three days.

It ok. But you would want to start on inducing one food at a time. have him on green beans for couple days. So u would know if he would he have any food allergy. It better try one food at a time. Give you baby some water is fine. It good for them to have some water has well. Once a day of water would be fine.

I am sorry I just read the answer that said you were supposed to give three cereals first and at age 6 months. I was giving my kids cereal in their formula at two months, because they weren't being satisfied. Only one word of caution with the green beans. Be ready for the green poop that will follow.

Give them to him gradualy so he can get accustomed to the taste and to pushing food to the back of his mouth. Little at a time!
