A couple of questions: Does your company employ random drug testing as the norm? Also did anything such as an on the job accident occur that would precipitate the request?
As far as you charging them for it, much less $3k - you may not be 'obligated under the law' but do you really want to keep your job? Charging them for it does not appear to be the way to go.

Under the law you might not be obligated to take one but under you employment contract you might very well be.
Many companies have this as a clause in the employment contract and you might lose your job if you don't submit to it
You are the who needs a law class. If you signed a contract for employment and part of that contract states that you must submit to random drug testing then that is just what you have to do or they can discipline you up to termination. Don'ttake the test and find out. Any company has the right to require Random drug testing as a part of continued employment as long as they are up front with it.
Yes the stuff they have you sign is just there so they have something to put in all fo those file cabinets. They don't really mean anything.
Next week you will be posting a question on here about "how do I apply for uneployment benifits"
They have to pay for the testing and if it is during your time off they have to pay you for your time at your hourly rate other than that they owe you nothing for taking the test.

Why did you ask then if none of use know anything about the law. It doesn't sound like you do either because if the company requires drug testing and you don't take one you get fired. Its not about it being a law, it has to do with the employer. Usually they pay for it, but if they don't its part of the job. Why is it a big deal to take one if your not hiding anything.

I don't know what law you are reading. If you feel that strongly, don't submit to the test. Then go for another job as you will be fired. You are fighting the Federal Government and will not win. Workmans Comp also gives drug tests should you get injured on the job. If they find drugs in your system, they don't pay for the doctors or hospital and you get fired. Find another law book or learn how to read because you are wrong.

Actually, you ARE obligated to take the drug test. However, THEY are the ones who have to pay for it. Not you. You also can't charge them for it. You must go to whomever they send you. If they don't have a provider, they must make the arrangements for the drug test & payment.
I strongly suggest that you do a bit more research. In the USA, you are obligated to take the test, so long as the employer pays for it.

They have the right to ask you to take the test because no one wants to have their employees doing drugs. You have to take it or lose the job. That's the law. You may say you are not obliged to do it, but I do not believe that is the case.

Wow, what state do you live in? Most employers have drug tests as conditions of employment. Are you sure you did not sign something when you became employed? I have never worked anywhere where I did not sign something saying that they could drug test me at anytime if they had a good reason. Charge them? What?

Why do you keep asking questions just to turn around and tell people they are wrong? Don't you have anything better to do with your time?
"everyone of you is ignorant on the law. sorryy you are need help."
May I suggest some grammar and spelling lessons to fill the day?

Unless you are being asked to pay for it, you are effectively either going to quit rather than take the test, or you are going to be fired because you wouldn't be worried about it unless you are a druggy. Either way, you will be out of the job, which is good for those who work there as they probably don't need someone tripping working with them.

The law may have nothing to do with it. In the USA, there is no law forbidding employers from drug testing so it is up to employers to set their own policy. In many cases, where safety is an issue (like construction), insurance companies are enticing employers to test by offering lower worker compensation insurance rates for doing so.
Apparently it is you who are ignorant. If it were illegal to require employees to drug test, the ACLU and others would be lined up filing lawsuits. (at least here in the US)
