Siddhartha Gautama (Buddhism) & Arjuna (Hinduism)... I'm trying to connect the 2 stories

The Bhagavad Gita is very readable, as is the Dhammapada, both available in multiple translations online. Siddarthe (Gautama Buddha) was a great prince, with all of the powers of the prince Krishna drove the chariot for as Arjuna. The difference is that Gautama became the consciousness Arjuna portrayed, some would see them as avatars of each other. The stories are very much connected. Siddartha grew up with the Vedas, lived and breathed them. He was a real person, and a devout Hindu. They are not therefore antithetical, although the Buddha came to understand a better way, the middle way shown in the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold path.

There are too many topics that come to mind and there is also the question of how long your essay is to develop any thesis.

An interesting approach might be contrasting the evolution of karma in both cultures and with both individuals.
