okay. so here is the question: how did the religious schism (protestanism) impact political, social, and economic problems?

A thesis statement, simplistically put, is merely a subject and an opinion, that's it ... "McDonald's makes the best hamburgers" is a simple thesis statements. So, for your topic, one could say something as simple as ...

"The Reformation caused not only a religious split between the Roman Catholic Church and the German church, but a political and economic division as well."
to something far more complex, such as
"The 16th century Reformation was the merely the most obvious manifestation of pre-existent social, cultural and political divides between the Roman Catholic Church and nations on the fringe of the ancient Roman Empire, chiefly German and England."

Good luck.
By-the-way, make sure that you can actually PROVE your thesis before you write it down. Step One may be to write a thesis statement, but Step Two is to prove it based on evidence and sources. So don't get too carried away.
