This is probably a silly question, but just recently my tropical fish have had long trails of waste attached as they swim about. They don't normally have this problem. Other than that, they seem healthy and are behaving normally. I have heard somewhere that this is caused by constipation. I haven't changed they're food at all, except that I have been adding a few sinking pellets for my algae eaters. Does anyone know if this is a potential problem arising and what I can do about it? Thanks.

Just feed your tropicals twice a day as much as they will eat under 5 min of time each feeding
I also fast them once a week a whole day, which prevents them from getting constipated

I only put sinking pellets for my algae eaters every other day just before i turn off the light

Hope that helps
Good luck

well that stuff hanging from there bottoms is poop i know it sounds gross but its true and dont feed your fish alot because if you do you will always have to clean it and for the sinking pellets its good to have those but make sure the other fish dont eat them

It's normal sometimes.

If you are feeding a quality flake once a day your fish are fine.

That is normal. Fish feces doesn't break very easily so while they are going, they have the straind following behind them until they are completely done.

your fish are constipated -- use greens once or twice a week in place of regular food. cooked spinach, lettuce, chopped up peas (they cant eat the outter shell part), zucchini, all good choices.

Your doing evrything fine, but fish have short memort so they dont remember when they ate (stupid i know) so if there full they wont know so they just keep eating. So feed them but dont keep feeding them because they keep eating!
