My midwife used the prostaglandin gel to help ripen my cervix, but it won't make you go into labor.

To be induced with medication you would have to be given pitocin through an IV.

If you are at 41 weeks you can talk to your doctor about induction, but many doctors will let the pregnancy progress until 42 weeks if all is well with mother and baby - no signs of distress.

Prostaglandin gel isn't an induction medication - it is a cervical ripening medication. There's a difference. Ripening just helps make the cervix soft and more favorable to dilation once labor starts, or if you're induced with pitocin.

Have they scheduled you, or talked to you about induction at all? If you're induced, they will either break your bag or start pitocin through an IV, or both.
