The power went out the other day, not a storm or anything, not sure why, but now my emachine won't turn on. It was in sleep mode when the power went out. My computer, monitor, printer and speakers are all plugged into the same surge protector and all of them turn on besides the computer tower. I opened it to look inside and the green light on the motherboard is on other than that I don't know what else to check.... does anyone have any ideas what happened?
thanks.

If your computer is no longer under warranty, it is probably still worth getting fixed. Most likely culprit is the power supply, about $50 and up depending on shape and size. It's not a terribly difficult replacement, but if you're not familiar with the inside of your machine,it would be more convenient to call a repairman.

Try unplugging it completely, leave it for about an hour. Then plug it back in and try again. sometimes a spike can cause an auto-protect on the machine, to clear this you need to remove all power.

Sounds like power supply issue.
If your computer is still under warranty call Gateway and get power supply replaced.
