Many blind people were not always blind..so, yes..they can dream and see images.

Those who were born legally blind..with no sight at all...i believe have shadow images.

remember..not all blind people have zero sight

Yes, but their experiences would probably be much different to ours. Since most of human existance is based upon visual stimuli, we tend to dream mainly visual sequences. But I'm sure everyone remembers at least some dream squence where visual stimuli were the least powerful. Emotional or sensual feelings are often very overwhelming in a dream sequence, so we can't conclude dreams are only the remnants of visual stimulation. A dream about an important conversation with a friend, a significant other, the tactile response that accompanies our favourite actions (eating, working out, sexual relations) are all large parts of our dreams.

The blind would almost definitely be able to recall or process tactile or auditory information in dreams, as well as have portions of the visual cortex stimulated by wandering electrical signals.

Well, I do not know for certain, but I would say you have a limited view of dreams. Maybe dreams could be made up of components other then just sights. There could be sounds, emotions, feelings as in touch, and other things. Everyone has to do something similar because the brain is processing thoughts in dreams and everyone should be doing it or there are consequences, such as memory loss or problems with memory and irritability.

It depends, if the person has been blind since birth then no and even if he/she could then he/she couldn't understand it. If the person was in some sort of accident or something like that then yes, but only with things from before then or imagination.

Dreams are a subconcious function. No matter what senses have been taken away, if someone has concious thought then by proxy they must have a subconcious therefore able to dream.

of course they can, they can still hear and read, immagination hasn't only got to do with sight. And blind, does not alway mean total lack of vision. They can also be incredibly creative.

I think I remember reading that blind people dream in everything except sight. So touch, smell, hearing, and taste.
