I would very much like to see a SEQUEL to the film in the present day of the classic science fiction film WHEN THE EARTH STOOD STILL or failing that a remake of the original in the present day that when Klaatu gets shot, he dies and doesn't get around to saying "Gort! Deglet ovrosco" - with the modern special effect these days, I think it would be very interesting to see what they could do with either story line, especially a sequel - say Gort came back for some reason - what do you think people - has anyone got any influence out there with Jerry Bruckheimer, Joel Schumacher people like that etc., or maybe it would suit better a director like David Twohy i.e. the excellent film The Arrival and Pitch Black one of the most innovative science fiction film makers I've ever seen or perhaps the crème de la crème of scienced fiction himself Mr. James Cameron - well he is in my humble opinion anyway - what do you think people - a good idea? If you don't think it's a good idea, please say so!

If you do think it's a good idea - is there anyone out there with influence with one if not all these big directors or another famous director - preferably not Speilberg as I think lately he's lost the plot - I mean look at the complete hash of things he made with his War of the Worlds - no apart from him if any one has any influence and you like my idea - please can you say if you can and/or will influence a 'big money director' to resurrect Gort - AGAIN please?

...it's already happening, with Keanu Reeves in the cast, as Klaatu, and Scott Derrickson ("The Exorcism of Emily Rose") in the director's chair...

...although I would have more idealistically imagined Spielberg doing this film (...despite his ill-received take on "War of the Worlds", I think he would handle this material with a much more respectful reverence), I am still somewhat intrigued with the cast & crew line-up, so far...

...check it out, here...

My only problem with bringing back this classic is that it ignores the current trend in warfare , that of the suicide bomber, which if you think about it is what Gort is, a person sent to another planet with a bombe that could explode it and him as well. Is the message that you can get your way so long as you can threaten the entire world a good message to have these days? Sure, Gort had Klaatu shut down, but Kaatu was on board for a reason. In today's world, Gort might not have changed Klaatu's mandate. Especially if Gort had a religious mission. I just don't know if Hollywood is ready to bring this idea back to the forefront.

How long did it take you to write that question? About a movie and a dumb one at that.
