Americans are very friendly, fun loving people and will welcome you. They are going to love your accent. Enjoy your stay, have fun, and I hope you meet many nice people.

I'm sure that you'll find the common stereotypes about us are for the most part not true. The people are generally nice, unless you give them reason no to be.
Miami is awesome, also VERY different from Ohio.
It will be quite helpfull if you know Spanish in Miami. It's not totaly necessary, but definitly helpfull.
I'm not a huge fan of Ohio, but have only been to 2 cities there.
Overall, there's really no reason to be nervous. Just have fun and enjoy your time here!

Where are you off to Alex? I went to California in May. We did Vegas, Hoover Dam, San Diego, LA and best of all Paso Robles car show. I've just heard it's the last one too, so glad we made it there this year. Are you taking in car events? You will find most everyone will make you very welcome. For some strange reason they seem to like the English accent, even with a local dialect. We always feels very comfortable whenever we go. You will have a great time. Keep us posted ;o))

See the answers everyone loves the accent, you will be made very very welcome. Enjoy every minute, it will fly by so quick. One tip I would give you is try and do as much as you can. Get up really early and go to bed late, and cram in as much into a day as you can. You will be shattered but you will have loads of memories and it will be worth the extra effort. x

Alex, try to visit some of the South, where the friendlist people in the US live. And it is so beautiful there in autumn. Most people in the South love football and have their favorite teams. When you walk into a fast food establishment, the people standing in live will speak and carry on a conversation (I'm really not sure where Blue goes in the South, or even if Blue has EVEN Been in the South) and you will really be surprised how well accepted you will be. Some people who visit the South love it so much that they make it their home.

I think it really depends where you go! These are generalizations, but the Northeast is known for being unfriendly. The Midwest (like Nebraska, Minnesota) they'll take you in with open arms - super friendly! On roadtrips my family ended up in the hospitality of these old people on their cow farm... and drivers really do wave to each other (strangers). Rockies are friendly too, and the West Coast is where I'm from. I love it here :) California's definitely colder than Oregon and Washington - but the West Coast is generally laid-back and easy-going.

Oh, and we love british accents! Hope it's a good trip :)

Until speech issues from your lips nobody in America will view reader as anyone unusual. If nervous suggest after passings customs purchase of industrial duct tape to end
worrisome English. People in USA communicate with scrawled cardboard signs about public use areas so the
traveler need not worry further. American dollars might even be hurled at you from passing automobiles.

Yes, people are pretty welcoming here. I have been to the UK a few times and found British and American people to be very similar (however, I was working for a multinational corporation at the time).

I hope you enjoy your visit!

My Grandson who is 20 went out to America in May to train be a football coach. He loves it so much and has been accepted that his Mum thinks she has lost him for good. Hope you have a lovely time and the best of luck in whatever you do out there.

Absolutely. You may get a few funny looks when people hear you speak and you'll probably get a couple of not-so-bright people as where you're from or make juvenile comments about your nationality, but I promise they don't mean any offense. In general you'll find that we're pretty friendly.

Where will you be visiting anyway?
