Congratulations on get the part of Antigone! Great role.

I find that I learn lines better if I type or hand write them on paper and study from that source. To make sure you get the over all arc of the play make sure to put some info as to what happens between your lines, a sort of play outline.

The volume thing will improve some when you have your lines down but something that will help you is to learn to support your voice by breathing from the diaphram [the bottom of your lungs] one way to learn how to do this is to lay flat on the floor and say your lines or even better sing from this position. This will teach you what breathing from the bottom of your lungs feels like so you can get that support when you are standing up.

Congrats! Antigone is a feather in your cap. My advice is learn your line asap if you write to me at kencosp@aol.com I will send you some info on learning lines. Most actors agree that the best thing is to record your cues on a cassette leaving blank space for your speech and then let the tape cue you over and over and over until you know your part. I have two things to say about your loudness. There is a good chance that when you know your lines and why you are saying them that you will deliver them louder. Speaking clearly and distinctly helps people understand you. Avoid speaking too fast. And two, your ambitious director (for attempting this play at this level) should know how to help you project and should have been aware of your softer voice when he or she cast you.. you got the role of Antigone /æn'tɪɡəni/ ?
if so, congratulation!

....if you are too quiet, try to exercise somewhere alone,
so you can concentate on the lines that are difficult to remember.
