I was wondering if the film "The Caine Mutiny" has a specific date for its setting (ex: Dec 16, 1943) or is just a general time period (ex: WWII)?

Appreciate the answers about the release date of the film, but I'm acutally looking for the date that the story itself is set in for the film.

does it matter? WWII is enough for me. It could've been anywhere between 1942 to 1945.

I love the movie. I don't believe it ever says what the year is. My speculation is that it is 1944 -1945. My Reasons are: The storm they got into could be the Typhoon that hit the 3rd fleet in December, 1944. I got the impression the was over by the time the court marshal took place.
My best guess.
