I have high quality, high end items, costing hundreds of dollars, and I can't seem to get a bid over $9.99. I think Ebay is glutted with merchandise and it is driving the prices down so low I don't even want to bother anymore.

That could be, it could also be that your photos are poor or your descriptions are too vague to interest anyone.

Ebay is a very competitive marketplace. In order to sell your merchandise for top dollar, you have to market well. There are reasons why there are so many sites that offer layouts, photo hosting, and tips on how to list your merchandise on Ebay.

A creative and informative item description is a must for any item because this is what potential buyers search for. Some buyers search by abbreviations while others type out the whole name; try to accommodate both. Do a search for items that are similar to the ones that you want to sell. Use the other sellers' listings as ideas for what you might want your listing to look like (but don't copy everything you see).

Get a plain background when taking pictures of the item and be sure the pictures are clear. I drape a black sheet over some chairs to get a good background. Add some close up pictures to highlight the detail of the high quality. The item doesn't sell itself anymore, it's all about the marketing.

Your items will appear further towards the top of the list the less time they have less and so more people bid on the items at the end of the time, also you should place the items on ebay around about 8pm or something at the local time you are selling, people would have finished work by then and will see the item when they get home before bed, 6-7 you can also try, add images, but I recommend only using one image using the eBay uploader, because you have to pay for extra, upload images yourself to your own site or a free site like photobucket then when you add the item to eBay, in description click HTML and insert (replace url with the image link but leave the " in there, to get the image link after it is uploaded right click it and press "Copy Image Location" using Mozilla Firefox, I don't know how to do it with Internet Explorer, Photobucket should give you a direct image link(or URL) and you can insert it like this
If you used Copy Image Location, right click the click paste to paste the link, or press ctrl+v which is short for paste, make sure you have selected where you want it to go first.
After you change the HTML on the eBay page you can go back to the normal tab and if the image shows then the code is correct, you can then drag the image to wherever you want or highlight it and centre it..whatever you want to do. I also recommend for high end items that you add an image in the search results.

For high end items , people get them in person at Macy's or Nordstrom or other retailer with a reputable return policy .

eBay is for bargain / knock offs and other used stuff .

Don't know anyone who would risk a purchase over $50 on eBay . { except for a car that they can inspect Before payment occurs )

Ebay sells stuff for very low prices, as you've discovered. If you want to sell your stuff for a little more, i would suggest Craigslist or selling the stuff with a garage sale or something. Good luck!

What are items selling for that are similar to yours? If they're going for more like the amounts you expect, look at their writeups and see what they are doing that you aren't.
