If you don't have a letterhead or standard format of your own, you can use one of the Templates that comes with Microsoft Word.
Just open Word, then pick NEW from the FILE menu, then look for PROFESSIONAL LETTER in the LETTERS & FAXES section.
You will see paragraphs that are single spaced, with TWO spaces between paragraphs. You will see a ONE INCH top and bottom margin, and 1.25 inch left and right margin.
You will also see that your address, date, salutation and signature line are all Left Justified.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

top right = your name and address, email/ telephone
below that but left justified the address you are sending to
SPACE
the the date you are sending the letter
Then about 4 returns
Then Dear Sir or madam, or the name of the person you are contacting
Then the main part of your letter
Then Yours sincerely ( if you have used a name)
Or Yours faithfully ( if you used sir or madam)
Then a few spaces about 5
Then your Name, typed( the space is for your signature)
if you have included any other documents with the letter like a CV
At the bottom of the letter another few spaces down type
Enc. or Encs. (if there is more than one)
It just means enclosures
I think that is it

the address in the top right hand corner has no line spacing just one like this... 66 da da st wellington 6161 WA 24th April 2006 then you have one line spacing and address your letter to the person like so.. To whom this may concer, then after that one line between each paragraphy. and two spaces between EVERY full stop and question mark or exclamation one space between every comma, and the next word. then when you get to the end of the letter you say Yours sincearly, then four lines then your name in capital letteres... like so... Yours Sincearly, Jade, this leaves space for your signature at the end...
