one month ago, I went to the bank to take $1000 from my savings account to be deposited into my checking account. The savings acct withdrawal is documented but there is none for the deposit! I didnt know this was a problem til I looked at my statement. I did ask the teller for the balance of the checking acct...but I dont have any receipts at home. So right after the teller withdrew the $1000, it never made it to the checking acct. I spoke to the bank manager and she said that maybe I went home with the money....I know i didnt but I demanded to review the survellience cameras...it should show the teller counting money to me if I took it home. Manager said there is NO RECORD of deposits made from that day....so I ask then how the hell do you expect me to have a receipt???? Now because the bank only has one camera spanning on all tellers, the whole transaction was not taped. So we cant prove whether or not money was given to me. What do I do? possible that teller took it????????

no i dont have any other accounts...but when the manager tells me that they dont have record..then why would i have a receipt? So is there a way to go higher than the branch manager or did I lose $1000?

This is odd..they usually do transfers on paper only, why would you take out $1,000 (cash) and hand it right back? Something's rotten in Denmark........

Mike,

All banks have an "EJ (electronic journal) " on their depository/ transaction software and basically it tracks ALL transactions for every day for all tellers. If i were you I would go back, ask the manager to look that up, the time and day when that specific teller did your transaction and then have them check the following transaction the teller processed since it should have been your deposit to the checking account. There is always a possibility that the teller may have transposed the checking account number and it could have ended in someone else's account. Other than that, if the teller did not credit the $1k to any account, he/she would've been out of balance at the end of the day. Try that out and see if it helps, keep me posted if you need more info

** If you feel you are not getting any resolution from the manager, I would really try to get a hold of the district manager or his/her administrative assistant. The least they can do is provide you with provisionary (temporary) credit while they actually do a closer research of the transaction**.

If it happened as you described, then yes it's possible that the teller took it - but there isn't any way for you to prove it, that you didn't just take the money with you. ALWAYS get a receipt for any transaction.

Its possible the teller took it, but unlikely.

In the future, always get a receipt and keep it.

Do you have any other accounts at that bank? Did you make any major purchases around that time?

It could be a mistake! We are just human. We all make mistake once in a while. You should go back to the Bank teller and tell her/him what happened. I think he/she would be happy to help you. If you could not get the problem solved, go to the bank manager. I have deposited some US check into my bank account through the ATM. Because I do not know the exact Canadian amount, I just entered the US dollar amount. The bank automatically adjusted the exchange for me. Canadian Banks are very reliable. They rarely rip people off.

first of all they do not give you money from your savings and then you have to give it back to be deposited in your checking.. that's just not right..they do it by computer and transfer the funds that way... do you live in a one person town? they have no records of deposits that day? businesses are in and out of banks all day making deposits..something is fishy very fishy...
