Settlers Of Catan...it is complex but, once you learn the rules it is very fun. You are setteling an island and the one to get 13 points first wins. You have to do a lot of trading and stuff...but, best part is this. The board is a bunch of Hexagonal tiles, and everytime you put the board together it is different. So, you can play it 4 times in a row and not play the same board twice. Makes it a bit more challanging.

Luck and randomness do play a part so it is not solely skill.

I like so many games its hard to pick a favorite, but some of the games I really, really enjoy are:

Factory Fun - this game really hits the fun spot for puzzle solving and logic. Its got a tense moment each round when you race against the other players to pick the best machine, then a lot of fun planning to get it into your factory for the most points. My girlfriend and I were playing this at least twenty times a month in the first few months we had it.

Arkham Horror - A great mix of adventure and action; I really only like it with 2 players though (great game for a couple, since you all play cooperatively against the game). Its got great theme and a lot of depth. However, its a bit too long and it took houseruling to get it to play well. One of my favorites anyway though.

HERO QUEST by Milton Bradley... i call it D & D light. fun with out spending hours making a character. challenging because there are years of fan made games on the web (aginns inn) from easy for the young ones to hard for seasoned gamers. more chances can be taken because a character can be good in less the 6 months of gaming.

Stratego. There is a dominant strategy if you maintain it, you can beat most people, but the problem is that it seems to complex to figure out. I rarely lose it. (my wife beat me for the first time right before we got married).
