the store i'm going to do most of my shopping at will take anything back. my grandma found something of my great gmas when she died and she returned it and they gave her the full price that was on the reciept and she had bought it about ten years earlier so i know they will take some from less than a year. i never buy from places that won't except returns unless i'm going to use it right then.

my daughter was born dec 22 so right there with ya! i also bought stuff out of season that was on sale... if they are closer to 8,9,10 months you can get 12 month clothing... 11,12+ i would get 12-18 month... in most places you get sizes like this: 12 m ..... 12-18m..... 18-24m.. and so on... its like half sizes! for example my daughter is now 21 months old and the 24month stuff is too big... but if i get 18-24 months it fits perfect with a little room to grow! ... also.. look for pants that have the "retractable" waist bands inside.. they can be taken up and let out as they grow... my daughter has some 3T jeans thats taken up to the tightest notch and they fit her perfect and i can let them out for the next 2 years! also... make sure when buying stuff that you know what season she/he will be in during that age/size... have fun shopping .. baby clothes are the best! oh and fyi... i would get a couple of newborn or premie outfits for the first week or two cuz the 0-3month stuff will be way too big... congrats

It's going to be really hard to say. It all depends on how big your son is and how fast he grows.
My son was born early and is nearly 2 and can still wear 12 month clothes.
My daughter was born 2 weeks ago at full time and is already into the 3-6 clothes.
BUT since you can return them (beware of the sales though--most sales items cannot be returned), 9-12 would be a good fit. If it doesn't get chilly there (like snow weather) you could probably even go 12-18.

Good luck- I wouldn't buy too much- my brat just turned 9 months old and she's wearing 18 month clothing. I spent over a hundred dollars on clearnce stuff last winter for her and she didn't get to wear a single item because I couldn't put her in sweatsuits in July lol. I'd stock up on 12 month and 18 month transitional stuff w/ long pants and sleeves so he'll have all winter to wear them, as well as on those chilly autumn days. Depends on where you live though, if it's warm all year you can get all sorts of stuff in all different sizes lol. Good luck!

It definitely varies by child. I would buy and thing between 9 months and 18 months. My son is 14 months now and in 2-3T clothes, so it depends on how your baby grows. My daughter was right along with the sizes the whole time and still is. My best advice is to invest in layerable stuff because you can use them multiple seasons.

Really that all depends on how big your baby is. If you have a small baby they may be in 6m clothes at a year. If you have a large baby they might be in 2T. Average is about 12 to 18 month. However styles change as well so you might want to wait.

Of course it depends on how much he weighs at birth, but normally an infant that age would need size 18-24
