Thats a good one. You'll find ALOT of controversy on that subject. Its a nice surprise to wait until you're done pushing it out after all that pain. But at the same time I think it depends on your financial situation, your religion, and all in all if you want to find out. Be aware though, that the further you are along the better. With my son, they told us he was a girl at 20 weeks and then again at 36 weeks he was a boy. So can you imagine us shopping around like crazy to buy "boy clothes" now. At that point I had JUST taken the tags off and washed EVERYTHING. So with this one I waited until 28 weeks to find out and again at 36 weeks (i made sure she was still a girl and didn't turn into a boy!!!LOL)
Really its all what YOU want. Its your body, your baby and your surprise. Its still a surprise dont forget , just a wee bit early :D
Good luck and congrats!
Oh and a word of advice.....If you dont have a family name that you are going to be passing down, what we found worked best was to pick 3-5 names that you REALLY like, then when you meet your little one it will be SO MUCH easier to pick one. You'll know better what he/she will suit best.
(Just an idea for you, we didn't name our lil guy for almost 2 days)

It's all up to you and how you want to go about everything. I had to know because I'm the kind of person who wants everything perfect before he (I'm having a boy ) is born, if you don't know, you can't buy to much and what you do buy your are limited to yellow or green colors pretty much. Finding out made me so much more excited about pregnancy and talking to my baby and all that, but I have also heard from people that waited to find out that the moment the baby came out, the waiting was well worth it, it made finding out so much better. I think I will want to know with my future children too.

hi there,
i didnt find out with my first son, but thats only because i was only allowed the one scan at 12weeks, which was to early. but it was a nice suprise when he was born.
with my second son i did find out. so i was able to name him and buy him boys clothes before he was born which was nice as i felt like i knew him.
im now 13weeks pregnant with baby number 3, and i cant wait for my 20week scan so i can find out. because i really want a girl. i liked the suprise of my first son and not knowing but im a very impatient person, so if i have the chance of finding out then i will but if i dont get the chance then its still a nice suprise.
good luck (",)

I am absolutely planning on finding out the sex..... I want to know whether to do a blue room or a pink/ lavender room. I can't get into the unisex look of green and yellow..... that and I have a list of about 40 names - I can get that in half if I find out.

I didn't want to know with my daughter. I chose to wait until she was born. To me it is the ultimate surprise. If I ever have another one I will not want to find out the gender of that child eiither.

I wanted to know. It made it fun to shop and plan for my son's arrival. No matter when you find out the sex, it's going to be a surprise. I don't see how finding out at the ultrasound would be that different from finding out at the delivery. At least if you know beforehand, you can have everything ready for when he/she comes home. It also made it easier on my friends and family when it came to purchasing gifts and decorating.

I had four children and didn't know the sex of any of them before they were born. What a lovely surprise each and every time! I wouldn't change that 9 months of wondering for anything.

i did find out and will again with my second child, some people think it will spoil the surprise, but nothing in the world can make seeing your baby for the first time any less special!
