Sometimes but really if you start being rude back or stop trying to be helpful you find yourself becoming the type of people who needs the help and the people who you complain about i always find its easier to be nice and polite all the time that way i can't find myself in the wrong

I was brought up to be extremely polite, well mannered and even tempered.

I was brought up to treat others as you would like them to treat you and that two wrongs don't make a right.

Basically, my addition to the above is that I am not responsible for the words and actions of others but I am responsible for my own words and actions and as long as I keep to my very high standard, I am, in general, respected and thought highly of.

That's not to say that I always get the same standard of consideration back because as I said, I have a very high standard and most other people ... don't.

Plus if you interact positively with others, it's good for your own mental health ... it makes you feel good inside.

These days some people take being nice as a sign of weakness on your part and I am nice in a hateful sort of way and it actually works.

Hi Smurf.
Just do what's right because it's right.
Continue to be nice. Those people who throw it back in your face...are those who have issues within themselves. Just keep showing kindness. You'll eventually rub off on them or they will get tired of throwing it in your face when they see you aren't gonna change.

Do what's right because it's right. You can never go wrong-

When people behave that way, why bother with them? There are other people in the world who would like to be a friend. Stick to those who are more like you.

I was going to be rude, just for the laughs. Yes some days. But... You have to be nice and set the example.

Yes. I always smile and say please and thank you, and hold doors open for people etc, but there are so many rude and ignorant people out there these days that I do wonder sometimes why I bother.

Some people do. Accept it. It's nothing personal, their problems.

You've got to be nice not for them, but because you believe it's the right way to be. Hard, I know.

Yes! But if it's in your character you can't help but being nice, I suppose it's the same for those people who can't help being nasty/rude and just plain horrible!
