How does race as a theme play itself out in the movie?

it's not really a race movie. it is more centered on the change of human behavior from the 1950s or 1960s to the next decade. Like children rebelling against their parents and having 5ex and questioning their society .
The only thing that can be considered race is that fact that the people in the movie that start to become more than black & white and are colorful they are are kind of separated from the rest of the town
