There are 2 year colleges (community, technical or junior colleges) and there are 4 year colleges (universities).

Completing 2 years with the necessary hours completes an associates degree. Completing 4 years completes a bachelor's degree. 6 years completes a masters degree.

An undergrad is someone who is looking to obtain or has their 4 year degree (bachelors). A graduate student is someone who is getting or has their master's degree or doctorate. A doctorate is a degree beyond a master's degree usually required for any medical field (psychology, medical doctor, professor).

Most universities require at least a 2.0 (grade C) average to transfer or have a new student take their SAT or ACT to be accepted. Most students after high school usually complete their basic requirement classes such as math, english, science, etc before deciding on what major they want to pursue.

In the US, we refer to College as the standard, initial four year program for the bachelors degree, either BA (Bachelor of Arts) or BS (Bachelor of Science). Undergrads are students who are studying for the bachelors. So most college kids are undergrads.

Some people go on for the Masters degree after completing the Bachelors. Its another year or two of work. More focused. May require a thesis or a serious written project.
