Quality point guard versus top tier big men. That is a tough one but in terms of scarcity in this league, quality big men rule. There is no doubt about that. You need a post presence if you want to increase your chances of getting to the NBA finals, not to mention winning a championship. You can also get more for your value if you're trading away a big men verses any guard or wing men. It's all about scarcity and trade value when answering this question.

It depends on whether Davis would be injured often with the Bulls or not. For example, if Davis never got injured with the Bulls, the Bulls and the Pistons rivalry would be like the current Spurs and Mavericks rivalry. John Paxson knows how to GM and so does Joe Dumars, and Paxson and Dumars go way back.
But if Davis got injured just like he did, the Bulls would not be any better; in fact, they'll be worse because the trade value for an injury-prone star is significantly lower. The Bulls got a good deal for Brand, which was a number 2 draft pick. Although the pick, Tyson Chandler, turned out not too well, but at least it's a number 2 pick. Who would have known?

well, basically it was luck. they traded elton brand for a number 2 pick and it turned out to be tyson chandler. although the bulls at one time had both chandler and curry, they both didn't turn out too great. but fortunately thru great GMing by Paxson, the Bulls are currently a top 3 team in the East (u gotta give credit to Paxson for trading Curry off to the Knicks for the 9th overall pick in the 07 draft, but then had screwed up and picked Noah...). The Bulls are a great team and as everyone knows, the only thing they lack is post scoring. They gotta find some way to find a great offensive post player. They got great guards and forwards, they got interior defense in Wallace and Thomas, all they need is a down low scoring.

The lakers might prefer Ron Artest the main. The small forward matchup for the lakers become their significant weak spot. the different 4 laker defenders are notably stable. Kobe might properly be suitable at cases yet he become too small to examine up with Paul Pierce. The lakers have been guy dealt with in the paint with the aid of the celtics. The lakers can play stable protection in stretches yet not consistent. I additionally think of the Pau Gasol team protection become vulnerable because of the fact he has only been there for 6 months. He did an ok activity guarding Garnett yet he ought to not get the rebounds or block too many pictures.

Elton Brand was the right choice then and still is now. I love the Warriors, but the truth is, Baron Davis gets hurt all the time. If Chicago would have picked him, they would have traded him because of that.
That's really how we got him, his injury status really lowered his value.

Not any better... they should have kept Elton Brand obviously. "The Bulls need a low post scoring threat". Good god, could you imagine how good they'd be right now if they had kept Brand with this team?

Brand is a stud. No way they ever should've let him slip away. Seeing as he is a better player than Baron and big men are much, much harder to find than guards, I'd haveta say they wouldn't have been any better had they picked Baron.
