What's better and why?
Tekken (Namco Bandai)
Virtua Fighter (Sega)
Soul Calibur (Namco Bandai)
Mortal Kombat (Midway)

Of the 4 mentioned I like Soul Calibur because it is easy to start off in, but difficult to master. As you change the level you can see the difference, easy is easy and hard is hard.
I like the fatalities in MK but I can never pull them off, so I guess it just takes a lot of time to master.
Virtua Fighter is loads of fun and is very similar to DOA 3 which is my favorite fighter of them all.
Tekken is to old and doesn't flow as well as those above.

It depends. I've played more Tekken than Mortal Kombat, but I think that if you dedicate more time on Mortal Kombat - since it is harder to master - it will be a little bit more worth it. Soul Caliber is OK, but it got a little boring after the levels, the few characters, et cetera. Virtua Fighter was OK as well, in the sense of the good graphics. Overall, I'd pick Tekken because it's easier and more fun. Although, you might wanna pick Mortal Kombat if you like hardcore fighting (Hence, its "M" rating).

I love Tekken and Mortal Kombat but I think i will have to go with Mortal Kombat as the better game

Well, I'd have to say Tekken, as it was the first beat-em-up I played.
Otherwise, I'd say Mortal Kombat, for it's seemingly limitless character list. And the Fatality special kills. ^_^

I like Mortal Kombat the best, mostly because I've been playing it since the earliest arcade version.

Quite Frankly I like sc and mk. I havent really played the other 2 so i dont know how good they are.
