What are the negetives of having a representative democracy?

i know what the positives are but i want to be able to compare and contrast with other types of political systems

Democracy is still might makes right -- the might of the majority (often mob) overriding the wishes of the minority.

In a representative democracy -- the majority collectively get together and give everyone's power to someone else -- the elected representative who then holds the power over everyone else.
