V=d/t where v is velocity, d is distance and t is time.
671 million miles/60 minutes=d/8,3 minutes therefore d (the distance from earth to sun) is (671 million miles * 8.3)/60 which equals 92821666,(6) miles

Take the speed (671 mil miles/hour) and multiply times 1 hr and divide by 60 min. Now you have how many million miles/minute. Multiply that by 8.3 minutes and you will have the distance.

Use basic algebra to answer this question. divide 671 million by 60 to find out how far it does travel in one minute. (60 minutes in one hour) this answer is the speed of light as represented in MPM, (miles per minute) Then multiply this answer by 8.3. This will give you the answer, but I can't help you with scientific notation.

For this question, we know the speed and we know the time. We need to solve for the distance. The formula for solving this is:

Distance = rate X time or D=rt

D=(671,000,000 miles per hour)(8.3 minutes)

We must convert each side so that each side show both hours. To do that we need to convert the minutes into hours.

D=(671,000,000 miles/hr)(0.1383333 hrs)

We multiply the two together and the hrs cancel out. We are left with

D=92,821,666.443 miles away

or in scientific notation it is:

D= 92.821666443 X 10^6 miles away

One hour is 60 minutes, so 671,000,000 mph is 671,000,000/60 miles per minute = 11,183,333.33... mpm.

The speed of light is given here with three digits, so we should round to three digits, this gives 11,200,000 miles or 1.12 * 10,000,000 or 1.12 * 10 ** 7.
In handwriting you put 10 and small 7 above and to the right of the zero, I cannot type this on my keyboard, I use ** instead.

In 8.3 minutes this is 1.12*10**7 mpm * 8.3 min = 9.3*10**7 miles(round to two digits because 8.3 has only two significant digits).

671,000,000 miles per hour (divide by 60)
11,183,333.3333 miles per minute.
Distance from Sun is:-
11,183,333.333 x 8.3 = 92,821,666.67 miles
9.28 x10^7 miles (3sf) Scientific Notation).
