Way back in the day, it was a sign of manliness to sport the "stache". Up untill recently, (late 70's) there has been a drastic decline in the popularity f the "stache". What are some of the reasons for why the "stache" has become a symbol of eccentricity in our modern culture?

Because many "villains" or idiots in movies sport a moustache and they tend to play w/ the tips to much, which is just irritating and associates such people w/ moustaches. For my opinion, I think stache's are awesome! I prefer to see them on a man. sexy!!.....and not "eccentric"

Amongst both men and women it tends to be the non-heterosexual community which favors moustaches.

Some men don't keep them trimmed and when they eat, food gets in their mustache and looks gross.
