It should take a year or so. But it's different for everybody. My friends mom wasn't regular until she gave birth.

oh there's no telling. I started mine the october when I turned 12 and it wasn't regular then. That january I had another period and I didn't have one until that July! It may take a few months before it starts to be a little more regular, but mine still isn't and I'm 20 now! mine is around 30-36 days depending on if I have been stressed that month or if things were pretty easy going. But I do agree, it is VERY frustrating. But you will eventually recognize when you are about to start so just always take tampons or pads with you wherever you go.
Good luck!

Some people are just never going to be regular, sorry. I would check with your mother or if you have any sisters, see what is normal for them, it runs in the family. I am as regular as a clock, down to the day, but I have a friend who only gets her period 3 or 4 times a year.

Like you said, it varies. Generally, your body will be similar to the other females in your family. Can you ask your mom, aunts, sisters, grandmothers, etc. how long they took to get regular? For me it took a couple of years. Weight will affect it too though. If you are underweight your periods will take longer to become regular because your body will try to prevent pregnancy. Also, if it's been a while and they are really irregular birth control pills regulate you. They do have some nasty side effects though (weight gain, possible blood clots, etc.)

When I first got my period 10 years ago it took 3 months to come the 2nd time. My period didn't become regular until I was close to my 20's, lol. I got mine when I was 12 and I'm almost 23 now.

Well, for a lot of people it never gets regular. A lot of times if you want to be on a certain schedule the best way is to get on a low dose of birth control.

It really just depends on the person...mine took about 6 months before I noticed it was finally coming at the same time each month, the same level of flow, and the same amount of days. I was 13 when I got mine.

Well I got my period when I was thirteen. 2 years later it still isn't regular. Try birth control pills, I heard they work. Also try to regulate your water intake and exercise.
